i call upon the goddess of the months
A rite for collecting lunar gnosis: There is a ton of lunar magic in the PGM. Really, the Helleno-Kemetic magical tradition represents one of the major ancestors of astrological magic as we envision it today, and many of the astral spells are in one way or another lunar in nature. Picking a good lunar invocation from the corpus of the PGM is not difficult, but this one from PGM VII is my favorite one.
a greco-egyptian dream divination spell
A spell to the Moon that works for everything: Today, I’m coming to you to discuss how I developed the framing rite I use for my gnosis-gathering sessions with the spirits who haunt the lunar stations. We’ll be discussing a spell that contains a protective charm to be used by magicians during lunar workings, the first of two texts I draw from for my station stroll.
an interlude on papyri and ancestors
On the Greek (and Egyptian) magical papyri: This month we’re going to be taking a brief detour from discussing the lunar stations directly to talk about a tremendous source of lunar magic: the Greek (and Egyptian) Magical Papyri.
sidereal or tropical?
Today I’m here to discuss something technical, but hopefully in an inspirited way: sidereal and tropical measurements of the lunar stations. This essay is broken into two sections seeking to answer the question: should we use tropical or sidereal coordinates when working with the lunar stations? The first answer to this question will be a historical one; the second answer an esoteric one. We’ll start by reviewing some of the research I’ve done on sidereal and tropical approaches to the lunar mansions, then I’ll attempt to answer this question in terms of gnosis by telling you what God told me when I asked her.
pearls on a string
My favorite works on the lunar stations: The next part of the Station Stroll project I’d like to introduce is what I’m calling my annotated bibliography. I’m synthesizing the research I’ve done in various ancient texts, academic papers, and modern books for this project, and I’m excited to show you my list of sources. Many of them are likely familiar to you but I’ve also found quite a number of interesting gems.
on the lunar stations
An introduction to my station stroll: Last year, under the auspices of the crescent Moon’s first emergence after the dark Moon in Capricorn, I began a project that, unbeknownst to me, would completely change my relationship to astrology, not to mention the rest of my life.
happiness is not a side quest!
On my solar return and luminary remediation: Most of the writing I’ve shared so far with y’all has been informative but, as I exit my winter hiatus, I’ve decided I want to try my hand at something new: I hope to offer you a model of how I’ve approached this work and what you might expect if you choose to embark on your own remediation journey.
coursing through the void
Defining the void of course Moon
This article aims to discuss the two competing definitions of the void of course Moon and present my argument for why I think the dynamic definition makes the most sense from both the functional and historical standpoint.
electing for the care of trees
A retrospective: So begins my series of electional retrospectives, in which I share an election and the situation that brought me to find it, then discuss the relative success (or disaster!) that chart brought to the situation. In April of 2021, I moved across the country and into a new house.
breaking into astrological elections with haircuts, manicures, and the moon
In this article, we will focus exclusively on how to select the right Moon through three primary considerations. These are more than just rules for finding the right moment for a haircut: this is an introduction to selecting a day that Moon that will draw vitality into the body in a desired way.
an introduction
This is an introduction to my background and work, as well as a preview of things to come on this blog. I am a moonstruck stargazer, a plant lady, a diviner, and a witch.
